Parunthumpara-enchanting Trekking station| beautiful driving experience|perfect place for holiday in Idukki|mist covered valley

Parunthumpara (Eagle Rock) is another scenic hill station in Idukki district Kerala. This hill station is not at all explored well as a tourists place till the last few years. Situated just 6 kms away from Peerumedu (NH 220), and 10 Kms away from Vandiperiyar, this virtually unexplored view point is now becoming a sure stop for travel enthusiasts. Actually known as trekker's paradise, this is a perfect place for planning a holiday trip with the family. This view point offers a great view of the Pamba and Sabarimala Forests.

The name Parunthumpara came from two words Parunthu (means Eagle) and Para (means Rock)- which came, according to us, one will get an Eagle Eye 360 degree view of the whole valley beneath the hill. If it is pleasant atmosphere without mist one can see the Trishanku hills of Kuttikanam and the Pattumala church from the top. Also from the top it is possible to enjoy the divine 'Makaravilakku' or 'Makarjyothi' of Shabarimala.

Parunthumpara is well known for its trekking area through the deep trenches to the grass lands and dense forest down the valley. With deep trenches from the top to the bottom and the green grass covered area, this hill is a perfect place for trekking and is well enjoyable for those who enjoy little bit adventure at the weekend. If you carry the basic things for trekking, you can trek down to the valley through trenches, and if you move again you can reach a place known as 'Mount'where you will get more deep trenches. But beware these trenches are very deep, even simple mistake can lead you to a great mistake.

The road to the parunthumpara hills is well tarred, but very narrow. But may be one of the best driving experience for anybody who loves driving. The road, with Tea Plantations on both sides, is with full of curves and the mist covered greenery will be one of the scenic part to enjoy.

Also this place is just 25 Kms away from Thekkady.
The place is a perfect place for film and album shooting, with the very wide grass landsand dense forests. Famous malayalam Film Nasrani of Mammootty was shot here
